Tree Surgery

We at Arbscape operate within the current British standards (BS3998) for tree work and being an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist and NPTC (National Proficiency Test Council) qualified chainsaw users you can be assured that your trees and woody plants are in safe hands.

Our tree surgery services include the following:

  • Felling of trees - directional felling, suitable where space is available.
  • Hedge maintenance - whether this is a tidy up trim or large scale reduction of a conifer hedge that has got out of control.
  • Sectional dismantling of trees - where space is limited, removal of tree using climbing equipment and ropes. For example trees in gardens overhanging property, greenhouses etc.
  • Crown reduction - pruning where the overall aim is to reduce the size of the crown of the tree.
  • Crown thinning - to allow light to penetrate through the canopy of the tree reducing the amount of shade cast by a tree, also allowing the wind to pass through thus reducing the chance of the tree being wind thrown.
  • Crown cleaning - removal of deadwood and crossing branches (which may contain weak points due to rubbing).
  • Crown lifting - removal of the lower branches to raise the canopy of the tree.
  • Restorative pruning - when a tree has been badly pruned (for example 'topped' - looking like a hat rack!) we carry out restorative pruning to improve the aesthetic value of the tree and, in time, improve the health and vigour of a tree.
  • Tree planting - this can be done to replace trees that have been removed (a stipulation after the removal of a protected tree) or to enhance a property with a suitable chosen species within a landscaping scheme.
  • Stump removal - this is done either by mechanical means of digging or by grinding the stump below soil level.
  • Wood Chipping - this is done as a matter of course as the tree is being removed the chips can be left on site and used as a mulch at a later date or totally removed from site
